Frequently asked questions

Q: What is a celebrant?

A: A person who performs or officiates ceremonies.

Q: Have you trained as a celebrant?

A: Yes I have been trained by the UK Society of Celebrants and am part of the Independent Society of Celebrants.

Q: Is a celebrant wedding legally binding?

A: No it is not, if you want to get married you would need to do this via a registrar at a register office. Many individuals opt to engage with a celebrant a few weeks before or after the wedding ceremony for which two witnesses are required.

Our focus will be on the wedding, not the legally binding marriage.

Q: Why should we choose you to be our celebrant?

A: I love nothing more than connecting and meeting new people, I love working with people to help create their own personal ceremony. The best thing is to contact me and let’s have a chat, you’ll then get a feeling if I am the right person for you or not.

Q: Can we write our own vows?

A: Yes of course. To make the ceremony as personal as possible.I would actively encourage you to undertake this if possible.

Q: What special elements can we have as part of our ceremony?

A: There are so many different elements which can be added to make sure you really get the wedding you desire. For instance, the ceremony can include ring warming, broom jumping, handfasting, unity candles, memory boxes and many more far less well known elements!

Got an idea of something you would like to include, we will do our best to make it work

Q: Are you willing to travel!?

A: Yes but travel expenses will need to be covered.

Q: What can I expect, if I decided to choose you as our celebrant?

A: An initial free conversation where we can talk about what you require, via the phone or virtually.

If you would then like to book me a non refundable £100 deposit will be required, plus a signed contract.

I will then send you a questionnaire to complete and then will arrange to meet either in person or virtually to talk through the ceremony.

The ceremony will then be written by me and I will arrange a time for us to read it through together. Any edits or additional information would then be added to the ceremony.

I will then deliver the ceremony on your chosen day.

Copy of the ceremony and ceremony certificate included.

Q: What are your fees?

A: For weddings and vow renewals between £500 and £700.

Naming ceremonies between £250 and £300.

However, fees are negotiable and I would be happy to discuss in more detail with you.
